WTF did she just say?

[FENG SHUI FRIDAY] Should your space represent who you WERE, ARE or who you WISH you could be?

Sandra Priestley Season 3 Episode 1

I was listening to an episode of The Good Stuff with Mary Berg on tv.  A guest expert said that your space should represent who you ARE ... not who you WERE and not who you want to BE.

It stopped me dead in my tracks.

WTF DID SHE JUST SAY??????

In this episode I talk about the beautiful process that happens when you question a belief, the opportunity you have to discard or accept a NEW belief ... and what I believe to be true, to create a space that is the most empowering for you.

I had a lot of fun recording this one, so I hope you like it too.

SPEAKER_00:

I'm so glad that you're here. You're listening to What the Fuck Did She Just Say? With your host. That's me, Santa Cruzley. I'm all about living our best life and finding our zone of brilliance and then removing the resistance so that we can go all in. I say random crazy gift, which is why I called this podcast the way that I did. And I really hate long, drawn-out intros. So let's fucking go. Welcome back to another episode of What the Fuck Did She Just Say? Today is Friday. And so a lot of times on Fridays, I do something called Feng Shui Friday. I'm a feng shui practitioner. I also am a transformation coach. And I really believe that anything that you want to manifest, any goal that you want to achieve, any transformation that you want to achieve, we need to look at the things that we think. We need to think about the things, the actions that we take, the habits that we have, but we also need to look at what our space is saying to our subconscious mind. There's a lot of people out there talking about reprogramming the subconscious. And I think it's really important. I also think it's important to note that your space is speaking to your subconscious mind. So we want to make sure that we design the space to be one that supports us in our goals. Now, here's what I want to say. A few months ago, I was watching, I had um the TV playing in the background, and I was watching the good stuff with Mary Berg, an interior designer, or maybe she was a professional organizer, I'm not sure. But she was talking about decluttering. And because so many people in my world are really focusing on 2026 is going to be the decluttering year, I wanted to talk about that. What she said was that your space should represent who you are, not who you used to be, and not who you aspire to be, not who you want to be. And here's what's really interesting because when I heard it, I was very aware that I disagreed with it. When I heard her say it, I had an emotional reaction to it almost like, what did you say? Like, oh, I was gonna argue with the TV. And I sat in that for a little bit, and then I sort of Don Miguel Ruized myself out of it. Because if you know, if you've been listening, I love Don Miguel Ruiz, I love his book, The Four Agreements. And really what he says is we have beliefs that he calls agreements that we've made over time. And what's beautiful is that when we hold those beliefs until something comes along that challenges it. Or if we want to want to discard the new belief. So I kind of had this moment where I was like I could feel the emotion going, are you kidding me? What the fuck did you just say? Absolutely not. Your space should be representing who you want to be. If you want to stay stuck, it's going to be representing who you used to be or who you are. But if you want to propel yourself forward, your space should be telling you, like telling a story of where you want to go. If my son wants to play pro football, I need to have something in his space where he would play pro football. If you want a new relationship, you got to get the shit of the old relationship out of your space, right? So if we have a goal, our space should be reminding us of where we want to go, not where we are and not where we were. So it kind of went through this process. I felt the emotion. I thought, do I believe this? Yes or no? And I really in true Libra form sort of like weighed out all of the options. Initially, my belief, my core belief, was your space should represent where you're going, who you want to be. Period. Full stop. And I disagreed with her that it should represent who you are. But then I started thinking, what about clothing? You know, should my clothing represent who I used to be? No, probably not if they don't fit. Should I keep clothing that used to fit me and don't anymore? Absolutely not. But should I keep clothing that fits me now and feels good to me now? Yes. And also, should I choose to keep clothing that I have almost like this is where I'm going? You know, my mom used to always say, you dress for the job you want, not for the job you have. And I kind of think of my space, my closet as the same way. Do I want to keep a whole bunch of clothes that no longer fit me? Um, absolutely not. Do I want to keep a whole bunch of clothes that I eventually want to move into, but make me feel like shit? Absolutely not. But when I used to be a beach body coach, one of my challengers had a dress that she really wanted to fit into. And she took that dress and hung it on the back of her closet door. Every morning, every night, every time she saw it, it reminded her of what she wanted to fit into. It reminded her of her goals and it reminded her of where she was going. So was her closet filled with a bunch of shit that she could no longer fit? Absolutely not. But that one dress was there for motivation and she fit into it faster than she thought that she would. Sometimes aspirational items, things that remind us of where we're going to go, they keep us in the fucking game. In my 90-day challenge called The Work, I recommend that people have something in their space that reminds them where they're going to go. It is so easy to sort of get caught up in our day, get caught up in our thoughts. And then all of a sudden, we have spent the entire day, like so far away from being the person that we want to be, the person that has the thing that we want to manifest, the person that has the thing that we want to attain. But when we have something in our space that reminds us of where we're going to go, not 9,000 things, but one or two things that reminds us of where we're going to go. It is a powerful, powerful tool. And that is speaking to our subconscious mind. My my challenger's dress that she had there, every single time she saw it, it was like, yes, that's where I'm going. Let's eat well. Yes, that's where I'm going. Let me have some more water. I am going to fit into that dress. Let me try it on today. I can almost do up the zipper. This is amazing. I feel great and I am making progress towards my goals. Every single time she walked past that dress, she was reminding her subconscious mind, this is where we're fucking going. And our subconscious mind is leading our actions. So as I went through this conversation in my mind of do I agree with this person on the good stuff? Or do I discard it? And what is it that I believe? This is what I really want you to know. Your space is speaking to you. So you want to be surrounded with things that make you feel good, that remind you not only of where you want to go, but they remind you of things that you're proud of now and also the power from the person that you used to be. One of the things that I always say is if it makes you feel like shit, get it out of your house. Anything in your space, if you have a size four pair of pants that make you feel like crap, remove them. Your space should not be saying things that make you feel like shit. So you want to keep something from the past of who you used to be that made you feel powerful, that made you feel good, an award or something you achieved, something you manifested, something you're so fucking proud of. Have that in your space. If you want to achieve something, manifest something. This is why vision boards work, right? So create a 3D vision board in your home. Create a space where you see it every single day. Affirmation on your fucking mirror doesn't matter what it is, but your space should be reminding you of where you want to go. But also don't shit on where you are. Have things in your space that make you feel good about who you are today. So do I agree with this chick on the good stuff? Absolutely fucking not. I think that our space should represent all of it who we're proud of being previous to now, who we are right now, and also who we want to be. But all of it should make you feel powerful, all of it should make you feel good, all of it should be speaking to your subconscious mind in such a beautiful way that it makes you feel more empowered by being in your home. That's the goal. Declutter away, but declutter away the items that make you feel like shit. Declutter items that you don't love, that you don't use, or they're broken. Get rid of those. Complete all of the undone tasks. Find a place for everything and have everything in its place. Don't just put it down, put it away. That's another sort of common saying that I hear all the time. It's a really good one. Don't put it down, put it away. Do you know how often I will walk down the stairs and place a bag of groceries right outside the pantry? But I don't open the door to the pantry and put it away. I mean, put it away, don't put it down. You will have less things to go back to and finish at the end of the day. Declutter. Have everything in its place and remove the things that make you feel like shit. But make sure you have something from the past, something from the present, and also something that reminds you of where you're fucking going. Thank you so much for listening. I hope you've had some laughs, maybe some ideas, and that you've been inspired to take some type of action toward the life you've always dreamed of. If you feel so called, I would love it if you would share with your besties. Leave a preview down below. I look forward to bringing you along with me, and I will see you in the next episode.
