WTF did she just say?
Oh my goshhhhhhhhhh welcome to my podcast!!! I'm so excited that you're here and I am honoured that you choose to place ME in your AirPods every week!!!
Here's a bit about me:
My name is Sandra. I'm a business coach for women, a feng shui practitioner and a 2x national leadership award winner. In saying all of that though, I feel like I'm just a girl from Saskatchewan, who is put on this earth to inspire you to step into your power ... right fuckin' now.
I think that all too often, we convince ourselves that there is nothing we can do ... that our life "is what it is" and that ONE DAY we might be able to have the life that we dreamed of.
Uhmmmm NO.
That's bullshit.
Sorry ... but it's true. In a split second, you can choose differently. In THIS moment, you can take that courageous step toward the life you desire. It's my job, my gift and my obsession to help you share your sparkle with the world and I'm excited to get started.
You got this. Let's go.
Sandra
WTF did she just say?
So You Quit Your Job… But You Hired the B*tch in the Backseat? Here's your reframe ...
You didn’t leave your 9-5 just to become the worst boss you’ve ever had.
But a lot of women do exactly that without even realizing it.
We quit the job. We celebrate our “freedom.”
And then what do we do?
We build a new box.
Only this time… we put the lid on.
We set the rules.
We overthink everything.
We tell ourselves how we should show up, sell, sound, and succeed.
This episode is a wake-up call.
The goal was never to work harder for less and call it freedom.
The goal was to build a business that actually feels like you.

Hey girl, welcome back to the podcast. Yesterday I talked about the integrity box and I mentioned that I was going to show up here today and talk to you a little bit more about where I came up with this concept when I was working for the federal government. So I worked for the federal government for 23 and a half years. I won two national leadership awards and for the most part, I really liked my jobs. But what happened was I got to a place where I just felt like I was restricted with what I could do. I couldn't move the way I wanted, I couldn't breathe the way I wanted, I couldn't be who I really was. I felt like there was a part of me that I was holding back, or several parts of me that I was holding back. I really wanted to spend more one on one time with my team doing mindset coaching like it's just what I love to do, and I could see them struggling and I just wanted to help. But you know what? Not enough time for me to do that on a daily basis. I'm sweary as hell.
Speaker 1:And this podcast is called what the Fuck Did she Just Say? And I was in national meetings, I was on national committees and I was in big rooms where my natural state would be to say the F word and I had to kind of tone that down. I had to tone down what I said, how I wrote, and I really felt like I missed that creativity. And so one of the things that I started just noticing and saying to people that when you're working for someone else, it's like working within a box, but someone else controls the lid. It's like you have this box, this set of values, this set of guiding principles, mission statement, vision statements. I mean you've got everything expectations, policies, standard operating procedures. You have all of those things that you're expected to do your job and work within. But working for myself, there was no lid, there was no proverbial glass ceiling. Working for myself, I had the capacity to make whatever I wanted to make, to say whatever I wanted to say, to be as creative as I wanted to be. And if I wanted to create a podcast called what the Fuck Did she Just Say you know what? I didn't have to ask. I didn't really grasp it as much as I do now, because once I left, I realized that there was something that no one tells you that when you leave the job, that you feel restricted by you often build another fucking box, but this time you're the one that's holding down the lid.
Speaker 1:The thing is, we don't know we're doing it. We leave a job and we want to, like, chase freedom. Right, we leave this job and we truly. It takes a lot of guts to leave a business, leave a job and start your own business, but we do it because we know, we have this gut feeling, we know we can do something great. We're chasing this freedom, but it's not even just freedom of time, it's like freedom of everything.
Speaker 1:And then we end up rebuilding the exact same rules, expectations and pressures in our own business, like we end up building a steel box with a locked lid. We create all these scenarios, we make all these agreements, we make all these decisions. We listen to a business coach and 17 years later, we're still holding decisions. We listen to a business coach and 17 years later, we're still holding ourself to those things I have to post every day or I'll fail. That's bullshit, but it's these thoughts that we have in our minds that hold us back like a cage. Right, I have to do sales calls this way, because that's what works. What works for you is what is an alignment for you. But what happens is we create our own steel box with all of these bullshit ideas.
Speaker 1:We see someone saying it online and we believe that is 100% true I have to price my offers like this or nobody will buy. A few years ago, all I kept hearing was coaches online that were saying you don't value yourself if you price your offers low, and so they would increase their prices way beyond what they felt was right. And then you wonder why they can't sell them. But they created this box around themselves where it's like well, I feel comfortable at a low amount, but I guess that means that I don't believe in myself. So now I have to price these higher, but then I don't feel good about selling them, so now I'm not selling them. Oh, I wonder what the fuck? There's your steel box with your lock on it.
Speaker 1:There's also, you know, this idea of I have to do live videos or I have to act more professional. I have to sound more polished. I have to do live videos or I have to act more professional. I have to sound more polished. I have to do everything. Perfect. I have to have a podcast with music in the intro and the outro.
Speaker 1:Those are exactly the same rules that made you miserable at your last job, but now you've got a new boss, and that new boss is the bitch in the backseat. You quit working for someone else and you hired the worst boss of all, and that's yourself and your own self-talk. So the reframe in this moment is that leaving your job wasn't actually the fucking freedom and starting the business wasn't actually the freedom either. The freedom comes when you stop building these steel boxes around yourself, when you stop carrying all of the rules into your new life that don't work for you, when you finally realize, holy shit, hang on, I'm the one with the lid and I get to take it off. I can throw the box away if I want to. This is the point of all of it. It's why you left working for someone else not to work harder for less money and not to be your own worst enemy, not to keep living like you've got to ask permission. Ps, I did that too.
Speaker 1:There were moments where, when I hired my first coach after I quit my job, I kept asking her for permission. All of a sudden, one day I realized wait a minute. Fuck, I'm the boss, I'm paying her. Why am I asking her permission? Can I do this? Do you think I should do this? What do you think her? Why am I asking her permission? Can I do this? Do you think I should do this? What do you think? I didn't like asking for permission to take a day off, but then I hired a coach and I paid her $20,000 for six months. That was my very first coach that I hired and I was asking her for permission. What the actual hell. So I didn't quit my job to earn freedom. I quit my job to create it, and that's the amazing thing about having your own business.
Speaker 1:So here's your homework for today. Look at your business, look at your life, and you ask yourself where am I still playing by rules I didn't agree to? Where am I working? Like I'm still in a box, when nobody's holding the lid down but me, and then take the box and throw it away, burn it down, change it, make it easier and make it yours. This is why you started your business so you could do things your way, so you could create in the way that works best for you, so you could be as authentically yourself as possible. Figure out what that strategy is and then go all in on it.
Speaker 1:I love doing business coaching with women because I can see their brilliance and their strategy for a way to move forward that works the best for them. Business is exactly like diets Keto might work for my neighbor, but it will definitely not work for them. Business is exactly like diets Keto might work for my neighbor, but it will definitely not work for me. And intermittent fasting might work for one of my clients, but it will not work for me. Cortisol does not like intermittent fasting. Youtube might be a smoke show for one of my clients, but YouTube is not the thing that I want to be on right now.
Speaker 1:I love podcasting, but do you know how many people don't love podcasting but love writing? There are people out there that love social media, and there are people out there that if they had to build a business with social media, they would just rather go and work at Tim Hortons media. They would just rather go and work at Tim Hortons. You started to be creative, don't forget it. You started to be able to do things the way that you wanted to do. Fuck the rules. You know not. Listen to a boss, so don't listen to your inner critic. Don't listen to the bitch in the backseat that is trying to tell you what to do, even though you know better. Follow your bliss and doors will open where there were once walls.
Speaker 1:So if you love this episode and you know that you are sitting in your own box right now, feeling stuck as hell and you're ready to build something that actually that feels like freedom and it feels like you and it feels like alignment. That's the work that I do every single day with my clients. We don't just build businesses. We build a life that you love and it feels so like you, like you like every little bit of your business. Every little bit of your life feels like it just fits. Come find me. That's what we do. That's what I love to do. I love to help women make money by being the most authentic version of themselves and making it in a way that they absolutely are obsessed with. You can find me in the show notes, you can send me a text, you can send me a DM or you can send me an email. I'd love to hear from you and I'm excited to work with you as well. Have an amazing day and we'll see you back here tomorrow.
