WTF did she just say?

[FENG SHUI FRIDAY] Want more good luck in the Year of the Snake? 🐍 🧧

Sandra Priestley Season 2 Episode 120
Speaker 1:

I'm so glad that you're here. You are listening to what the fuck did she just say with your host? That's me, sandra Priestly. I'm all about living our best life and finding our zone of brilliance and then removing the resistance so that we can go all in. I say random, crazy shit, which is why I called this podcast the way that I did, and I really hate long drawn out intros, so let's fucking go.

Speaker 1:

Well, it's Feng Shui Friday and we're coming up on the lunar new year, which is January 29th, so I want to quickly talk to you about some things that you can do in your space so that you can bring in prosperity, success, abundance for this new year. First things, though, I want to talk to you about the year. So this is the year of the wood snake. The year, so this is the year of the wood snake, and I love this because it's this year of personal transformation. It's also a nine year. Nine in numerology represents a karmic completion letting go of the old to make space for change. It's the end of an era, and this idea of like tying up loose ends. Now, according to feng shui, there's a few things that you want to do. Well, there's a number of things that you can do for the lunar new year. So one of the things that I always do is I always clean my entire house. I mean the base. If you can't do anything, I want you to take out all of your garbages. Like if the only thing you do is take out the garbage, I would be happy. But ideally you want to take out the garbages. You want to remove anything that no longer serves you, clean the space, particularly the front entrance. You want to make sure that you can usher in good luck and welcome in good luck and positive energy. Look around your space and if there's anything that makes you feel like shit, send it out of your house. That's kind of my biggest goal is if it makes you feel like shit, get it out of your home, and I love this idea of sweeping away any bad vibes and any negative energy so that you can make room for good fortune. I always try to do all of my laundry as well. The big thing here is that you're going to clean on New Year's Eve because on New Year's Day you are not going to clean. Don't clean, don't take out any garbages. Nothing goes outside of your house. That's considered bad luck, even though I'm not really a big fan of bad luck, I do try as best as I can to clean everything on New Year's Eve and nothing on New Year's Day. I just like the idea that it brings me extra luck if I don't clean on New Year's Day.

Speaker 1:

The other thing you want to do is, if you like red and gold, you want to decorate your home with some red decorations, gold decorations, even lanterns and things. I love going to restaurants. My husband and I went for dim sum today, actually, and it was just so fun to see all the red and gold like there was firecrackers hanging and it was just so much fun. I love that energy. About six or seven years ago, I was in Vancouver with my aunt and we had gone to this new casino. It was a Chinese casino and it was right around this time and, oh my gosh, the decor was absolutely stunning. All of the red and gold. I just I could have just hung out there for hours. It was just, and we just went to look at it. It was just so pretty. All of the lanterns and the firecrackers and the oh my gosh, it was gorgeous. But, um, you know, if you just hang something in your space, something that just to to celebrate the new year. I think that's great.

Speaker 1:

The other thing you want to do is you want to wear new clothes, especially in red. That symbolizes a fresh start, warding off bad energy. You want to avoid black or white this is going to be difficult for me because I have a lot of black in my closet but just ideally, wearing new clothes if you can, and red if you've got it for good luck. Write down your goals and your affirmations for the year ahead, because you want to manifest good fortune and opportunity, so this is a good time to do that. The other thing that you want to do is on New Year's Day, you want to steer clear of words that would be considered negative and avoid all arguments. You don't want to argue on New Year's Day If you've got them.

Speaker 1:

Placing a bowl of oranges or tangerines in your house, especially in the kitchen or the living room, can bring positive energy. Side note, I always think having a bowl of fruit, especially citrus fruits, bring great abundance and energy as well. The other thing you want to do is you want to have a feast, so have family and friends over and celebrate, and if you're really into friends, over and celebrate and if you're really into, you want to go very deep into the lucky foods. Dumplings symbolize wealth and prosperity. Noodles represent longevity and you don't want to cut them, you want to eat them in their long form. Fish is said to bring abundance, but you're not supposed to finish all of it. You just leave a little bit there to represent overflowing prosperity. And then those sweet rice balls, which are so tasty. They represent family unity and togetherness. So if you're really wanting to go deep into the luck and have the lucky foods, that's what I would do.

Speaker 1:

Um, also, I love the idea of just opening up the doors at midnight. Um, we open up the doors because it's winter here, so we're not going to open up the windows. But if you live in a warmer client climate, open up the windows and allow some fresh energy in. It allows the old stuff to go out, the old stagnant energy that you don't need anymore. Let that out and then it allows in fresh energy, and then you want to get a good night's sleep.

Speaker 1:

We want to wake up fresh and happy and vibrant and to welcome in the new year with a great mindset. This year is going to be an incredible one and we want to start it off as we mean to go on. Thank you so much for listening. I hope you've had some laughs, maybe some ideas, and that you've been inspired to take some type of action toward the life you've always dreamed of. If you feel so called, I would love it if you would share with your besties and leave a review down below. I look forward to bringing you along on this journey and I will see you in the next episode.
