WTF did she just say?

A hack to help you complete the stuff you avoid!

Sandra Priestley Season 2 Episode 118
Speaker 1:

I'm so glad that you're here. You are listening to. What the fuck did she just say with your host? That's me, sandra Priestly. I'm all about living our best life and finding our zone of brilliance and then removing the resistance so that we can go all in. I say random, crazy shit, which is why I called this podcast the way that I did, and I really hate long drawn out intros. So let's fucking go.

Speaker 1:

Three years ago I had committed to walking and a friend of mine and I actually we both committed to walking every single day. It was good for my menopausal body, I mean, it's the best thing to lower cortisol and it's just good to get some fresh air and things. I have never really loved walking Like it's not something that I just go do for fun, and so there's a trick that I have that makes it tolerable until such time as I get into the habit of just doing it and then it just becomes something that I do and I don't even think about I habit stack. So I grab my earphones and I put them on. I either find a podcast that I like to do or I listen to a walking meditation that I've recorded. It might be that I take a training along on the walk. Sometimes I'll talk on Voxer to my clients. I might record a training in Telegram for the women that are in the work, and then sometimes I do subconscious reprogramming. I do this out loud. It is like voice journaling. What I love about this is that I then feel like I'm getting a few things checked off of my to-do list every single day, because this year, in 2025, I'm getting a few things checked off of my to-do list every single day, because this year, in 2025, I'm prioritizing three things mindset, energy and action.

Speaker 1:

Right, and so the mindset piece is this journaling, whether it's voice journaling or whether it's like physically with a pen, I'm also doing affirmations, so it's really kind of fun to walk and say affirmations at the same time, in the same rhythm of your walk. What happens, I believe, is that it starts to reprogram your mind a little faster, your subconscious brain a little faster. It just gets into this rhythm that I feel I start to interpret as truth, and that's really what affirmations are for me. I'm going to do a couple of podcasts coming up on affirmations as well, because I used to hate affirmations and now I'm obsessed with them and I've got a friend who used to love them and now is sort of shifting what she thinks of them. So it's, they're going to be really good podcasts, so you're going to have to tune in.

Speaker 1:

But I've got this mindset, energy and action already on the go my mindset pieces, affirmations and journaling so I can do both of those things while I'm walking. Also, my walk is part of my energy piece. My other energy piece that I'm doing right now is visualization meditation. Hey, guess what? I can also do those two things on my walk as well. So it is like, literally, I'm doing four things for me right off the hop in the morning. Me right off the hop in the morning. And how you set your morning up is a huge, huge factor in how your day continues.

Speaker 1:

And then my action piece is directly related to my goals. I mean, all of these things are directly related to the goal that I've set for myself in the work. But what I love is that I literally can set aside an hour and I can do all of these things in an hour, plus all four of these things prioritize myself, get it all done and together, what happens when you habit stack, if you can do something that you don't like, like walking or something that you avoid to do, and then connect it with something that you actually really love to do, like listen to podcasts, doing a visualization, doing my voice, journaling, doing affirmations if you can, or even just chatting with a friend. If you can combine what you don't like to do with something you love to do, you end up liking them both. When I used to go and sit on my perch, I didn't love to walk, but I did love to go and sit on my rock, look at the water and just feel that zen, that calm, that peace. So it was like a means. To the end, I habit stacked them. I went for a walk to get me to the place where I wanted to go. I wrote a post earlier and one of the women that had commented said what she does is she walks on the treadmill while she watches Netflix. Good example. The majority of people that I talk to are joking about how they use their treadmill for a clothes hanger, and we do not want to do that.

Speaker 1:

I think moving your body every single day is important, but if you're not prioritizing it, have it, stack it. You've got to try it. Like I'm telling you. It is a game changer. It's not revolutionary but it fucking works. Good luck, and if you want to join us in the work, like seriously, you've got to join us in the work. It's so fucking good. It'll change your life. Thank you so much for listening. I hope you've had some laughs, maybe some ideas, and that you've been inspired to take some type of action toward the life you've always dreamed of. If you feel so called, I would love it if you would share with your besties and leave a review down below. I look forward to bringing you along on this journey and I will see you in the next episode.
